Why do people like to lift weights? Why do we feel a sense of satisfaction after enduring what seems to be torture to the average person? We like to do as the title suggests: build. Some like to be called sculptors. In my personal view, it’s one of the only things where you will be rewarded for exactly how much effort you put into it. It’s a lifestyle. Once you have a passion for bodybuilding and overall fitness, you’ll retain it for the rest of your life. You don’t need to be 300 pounds of muscle to have a passion for bodybuilding. We all need to start out somewhere!
Bodybuilding can be described as the building of muscles and almost literaly “sculpting” to create a well balanced and muscular physique. The bodybuilding and overall fitness industry has been dramaticly rising in previous years. In the early 1900′s, bodybuilders were portrayed almost as clowns. 7-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger was the first bodybuilder to really change the view of this. Bodybuilding is a competition, and it’s excellent to use other people as competition or as an endeavor for you to reach your own goals. The main objective of bodybuilding is to be as muscular, while keeping good symmetry, and as “cut” as possible to show the muscles.
As I stated earlier, symmetry is one of the main components of bodybuilding. This doesn’t nessisarily apply to keeping one arm as big as the other, but keeping an overall symmetrical figure. This means that if you have a huge chest, traps, shoulders, and general upper body, your lower body should match as well. This wasn’t so much the issue with bodybuilding in the past but is more recognized today.
There are many differences in modern day bodybuilding compaired to old school bodybuilding, yet there are also many similarities. New research tells you that doing this in your training is wrong, yet some of the best bodybuilders of all time swear by these methods. Science is always proving something else, but there are many fundamentals that are pretty much guaranteed to never change, such as the basic principals of lifting weights, shocking your muscles with new exercises and routines to keep growing, nutrition, etc.

Bodybuilding supplements such as Whey Protein, Creatine, L-Glutamine, etc are very common in the bodybuilding world. There have been many successful athletes that have never used any supplements but science has proven many to be effective. When one first starts making their path down the bodybuilding road, questioning supplements is natural (just like the supplements!). Supplements such as whey protein, creatine, etc are Completely Natural. After a while, you’re bound to start buying a monthly source of whey protein, creating, and all the other supplements.
Bodybuilding has it’s rewards. Not only will you have a feeling of self accomplishment, but you’re also living a healthy life style because of it, and depending on the level that you are, you might be getting paid for it too. You even get rid of anger while pumping out iron in the gym!
