2009 Mr. Olympia Results

MuscleTech Gakic Pro Series - 128 Caplets

jcutler-09-olympia1The 2009 Mr. Olympia competition was held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Olympia weekend, September 25-28. Jay Cutler regained his crown and achieved his 3rd Sandow after being defeated the previous year, something nobody has ever done before. Branch Warren suprised everyone with second place, leaving the previous Mr. Olympia Dexter Jackson in third place. As the competition was very stiff, we saw many people drop placings.

Dennis Wolf suprised everyone coming in smooth and flat, and not nearly in competition condition. Dennis was much heavier than last year and sacrificed crucial conditioning for this contest.

Victor Martinez Managed to still come in with a somewhat decent package and walk away with 6th place. This is however suprising considering the tragedy that he has had to overcome and his last injury.

Ronny Rockel also suprised everyone in a good way. Ronny came in the best shape we’ve seen him yet, and many would argue that he could have placed as high as 5th.

Kai Greene managed to come out with 4th place. Kai was hoping for a better placing but it seems that he couldn’t nail his conditioning as he did at the Arnold Classic earlier that year.

Phil Heath was reported to have had a stomach virus the night of the Olympia and lost a lot of weight. There are pictures of his papers as proof and for this he couldn’t perform optimally and his physique wasn’t at it’s best. Phil heath placed 5th.

Markus Ruhl, a crowd favorite came in 15th place. Markus isn’t well known for his shape and didn’t come in as peeled and shredded as he has been in past competitions, but considering this years lineup you could say 15th place wasn’t that bad.
